MONTH OF FRIENDSHIP & LOVE
During this month let's work on using the Month
of Friendship and Love, as a source for teaching good manners and social
graces, to help children acquire confidence and be the best they can be. It is a great opportunity to talk about how having good manners influence in creating friendships and keeping good friends. How bullying harms not only physically but emotionally, and how children that have empathy will not be involved in that behaviour.
It is also a great month for celebrations and parties. In schools, clubs and churches children will be invited to Valentine's Day Parties. What a great chance to teach them about hosts and guests duties. How to treat your guests with love and respect.
Last but not least, let's practice some basic table manners! It is also a great opportunity to review keeping elbows off the table and chewing with your mouth closed. Table manners also covers the use of napkins and utensils and using Valentine themed papercups and plates provides a pleasant and fun way of learning about table settings.
Most importantly, let's take the opportunity to reinforce that minding your manners is an important way of building traits of good character in our children. The society of tomorrow will be much better off with adults that show trustworthiness, citizenship, reponsibility, fairness, caring and respect. All of which can be fostered by learning good manners at an early age.

MES DEL AMOR Y LA AMISTAD
Durante este mes aprovechemos la oportunidad de
Celebrar el Mes del Amor y la Amistad como una fuente para
ensenar buenos modales a nuestros niños, para ayudarlos a que adquieran la
confianza en sí mismos que brinda el saber comportarse en situaciones
especificas y para que logren ser lo mejor que puedan ser. Esta es una gran
oportunidad para conversar sobre como tener buenos modales influye en la
capacidad de crear amistades buenas y duraderas. También, recordar que el acoso
daña no solo física sino emocionalmente y que los niños que desarrollan empatía
no caerán en esas conductas.
Es también un gran mes para las celebraciones y
las fiestas. En los colegios, clubes e Iglesias los niños serán invitados a
Fiestas de San Valentín. Esa es el momento adecuado para ensenarles sobre las
obligaciones de un buen anfitrión y de ser un invitado cortes. Con el énfasis siempre
en tratar a sus semejantes con respeto y afecto. .
Finalmente, es bueno recordar reglas básicas de
la etiqueta de mesa. Detalles tales como: mantener los codos fuera de la mesa y
masticar con la boca cerrada deben ser reforzados. El uso de la servilleta y la
ubicación de los utensilios se pueden ensenar de manera amena y divertida
durante una celebración.
Tener buenos modales es una manera importante
de desarrollar en nuestros niños valores que reflejen una persona con un carácter
moral ejemplar. La sociedad del mañana será una mucho mejor si los adultos se
comportan con responsabilidad, honestidad, equidad y respeto. Todo los cual
puede ser fomentado al ensenar buenos modales a temprana edad.
