 IMPORTANCE OF THE PERFECT HANDSHAKE


Handshakes are a crucial part of making a good first impression, therefore, I want to share with you seven tips to always get them right! In the business world it is well known that a firm, confident handshake provides the best setting for a favorable impression. We all know that your handshake should follow rules of etiquette, show confidence and avoid awkward situations but how do we put all that into practice? 

Here are my 7 tips:

1- Always stand up to shake hands.

2- Always maintain eye contact while shaking.

3- Make sure that you give a full palm so you can reach web to web of thumb.

4- Do not shake (pump) more than 3 times.

5- Always smile – makes a pleasant facial expression

6- Avoid the extremes- No limp “dead fish” or too strong “bone crusher”

7- Always make sure your hand is not sweaty or wet from holding a drink!


Follow these seven steps and you will give the perfect handshake and a positive professional first impression.
